The federal employment laws are mean to take care of the employment factor of the employers as well as the employee. If you are not yet paying special attention to employment law, then you must do so at the earliest for your own benefit. In total, there are 8 basic Federal employment laws and all of them must be understood and practiced to the core.

The first among the employment laws is the Title VII pertaining to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which prohibits any sort of discrimination on the base of color, race, caste, religion, creed, sex and origin. Sex discrimination and sexual harassment are also prohibited under this law.

The Equal Pay Act of 1963 in the employment law structure states that the employers should not pay different wages to men and women performing the same task under similar working conditions.

Further Employment Law Acts

The Disabilities Act prohibits any discrimination to person with certain disabilities.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Act under the employment law structure prevents any sort of discrimination against the minorities on the basis of poor credit ratings.

The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 does not entertain any discrimination with due regards to national origin of citizenship.

The ADEA or Age Discrimination in Employment Act does not allow any discrimination to those individuals who are above 40 years of age.

The Bankruptcy Act prevents any sort of discrimination against any person who has given the declaration of bankruptcy.

Besides all these acts there are some more additions to the federal employment laws structure, for instance, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and so on.
